Sybase and Cibenix empower carriers to provide real-time, personalised data to any mobile device

Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading enterprise infrastructure and mobile software company, today announced a strategic partnership with Cibenix, a leading provider of on-device, mobile Service Discovery solutions, that will enable carriers to bring a new level of data services to wireless subscribers. The partnership will pair Sybase® mFolio™, an advanced mobile browsing technology, with the Cibenix Client/Server mobile user interface, a highly intuitive, customizable and dynamic user experience on the device. This combined solution will allow carriers to offer their users the ability to access the Web, and personalized content and news sources through an interactive, intuitive, front-screen experience on any wireless device.

“Real-time, simple access to personalized content, such as RSS feeds, targeted pieces of web pages, personal photo galleries and audio and video podcasts, is essential,” said Garry McCollum, CEO, Cibenix. “With the addition of the Cibenix On-Device Portal technology to mFolio, carriers will be able to deliver a rich mobile web experience from a carrier-branded UI that provides subscribers with an intuitive and engaging interface to the mFolio experience and the existing wealth of data services offered by the carrier.”

Sybase and Cibenix will deliver the combined mFolio - Cibenix solution to wireless carriers, providing them with new sources of data revenue. The combined solution will give wireless subscribers a unique and interactive content experience optimized for small screen devices. This means increased use of data services by subscribers and greater revenue for carriers. Additionally, the solution has flexible implementation options and reasonable start up costs allowing carriers to take the solution to market quickly and affordably.

“We are committed to delivering new sources of revenue to the highly competitive wireless carrier market,” said Billy Ho, senior vice president of the OEM/Telecom Group, Sybase, Inc. “The combined Sybase mFolio - Cibenix Client solution will deliver the power of fast, easy mobile browsing along with an intuitive, customizable UI, allowing operators to quickly increase their data plan revenues while building strong brand differentiation.”
